Sault man accused of borrowing $38,000 in ex-girlfriend's name

On April 16, 2018, officers with the Investigation Services Division of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested a 28-year-old male from Sault Ste. Marie as a result of a fraud investigation.

It is alleged that in April of 2017 the accused obtained a loan for over $38,000 in the name of his ex-girlfriend. Soon after, the victim found out about the loan and contacted police. 

After the investigation, the accused was taken into custody and charged with one count of fraud over $5,000 and one count of uttering a forged document. He will appear in court on May 23, 2018.
