There was an unusual assault in the Sault overnight. City Police say that at about 3:30 this morning, they received a call about several people fighting at Great Northern Road and Northern Avenue.
There was an unusual assault in the Sault overnight. City Police say that at about 3:30 this morning, they received a call about several people fighting at Great Northern Road and Northern Avenue. Police arrested Antonio Metallo, age 19, of Northland Road and have charged him with assault with a weapon.

Police say a vehicle driven by Metallo was southbound on Great Northern Road when it passed a group of four young male pedestrians. It is alleged those on foot hurled insults and gestures at the Metallo vehicle.

At that point, it is alleged, Metallo emerged from the vehicle with a weapon and proceeded to cause minor injuries to three of the four pedestrians. Metallo then left the scene before police arrived however he was arrested a short time later on Eagle Drive. No one was sent to hospital and there were no serious injuries.

There was one impaired driver arrested overnight with two arrested for being intoxicated in a public place.
