Robbery suspect targets elderly woman. Police seek witnesses

On Jan. 22, 2018 at approximately 10:30 a.m., officers with the Patrol Services Division of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service responded to a robbery in the rear parking lot of Station Mall near St. Mary’s River Drive.

A female suspect followed an elderly woman through the parking lot and approached her from behind. The suspect grabbed the victim’s purse and pulled the victim around the area in an attempt to take the purse. 

An unknown couple driving a red truck were passing by and witnessed the altercation. They stopped to render assistance to the victim and as a result, the suspect fled the area. Officers would like to speak with these individuals or anyone else who may have witnessed this incident.
