Reports of vehicle striking a utility pole leads to impaired charge

On Aug. 16, 2019 officers with the Patrol Services Unit of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 40-year-old Brooke Line of Connaught Avenue with impaired driving. 

Close to midnight on Aug. 16, 2019, police received reports of a vehicle striking a utility pole in the west end of the city. Officers responded and found the vehicle in question had left the scene. Police also received information the vehicle was stolen.

Police located the accused a short time later and conducted a traffic stop. The accused was taken into custody for a stolen vehicle, at which time he admitted to being the owner of the vehicle. The accused provided samples into an approved instrument and registered two readings over the legal limit. 

He is charged with one count of impaired driving, one count of impaired operation – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus), one count of obstructing a peace officer and one count of public mischief. He is scheduled to appear in court on Sept. 30, 2019.
