Report of woman sleeping in running vehicle leads to impaired driving arrest

Police have charged Tara Desanti with impaired driving following an incident that occurred in the early morning hours of Dec. 2 on McNabb Street.

A news release issued today by the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service alleges that the 29-year-old was sleeping in a running vehicle.

Full text of the release follows:

On Dec. 2, 2021 officers with Patrol Services charged 29-year-old Tara Desanti of Aweres Township with impaired driving – alcohol and/or drugs.

Around 1:08 a.m., officers responded to reports of a woman asleep in a running vehicle in the 300 block of McNabb Street. Upon arrival, and upon speaking with the accused, officers developed grounds to believe her ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by alcohol.

She was arrested, and later refused to provide a breathe sample.

She is charged with impaired driving – alcohol and/or drugs and failure or refusal to comply with a demand.

She was released on an appearance notice and is scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 10, 2022.
