Local police are warning the public to be wary of a fraud targeting seniors.

Police say they have recently received two complaints of fraud, associated with a loved one involved in a car crash.

In both cases, the victims say they were contacted by someone claiming to be a grandchild who was involved in a collision and they need over $3,000 to get out of trouble.

The victims were then instructed to put the money in bubble wrap and drop it off at a particular location.

In a press release issued today, police remind the public, "If someone contacts you requesting money while also asking you not to tell anyone, it is a sign something is not right. If you ever have any concerns about a potential scam or fraudulent activity, please contact police by calling 705-949-6300."

Police also urge the public not to share personal information over the phone.
