Police seize 9 mm handgun, suspected cocaine during traffic stop

Four from Toronto face charges

On Feb. 27, 2020 ,officers with Patrol Services arrested 25-year-old Kwesi Armoo, 25-year-old Jason Ramessar, 21-year-old Javonte Reid, and 20-year-old Handel Hippolyte, all of Toronto, for unauthorized possession of a firearm.

At 1 a.m. on Feb. 27, 2020, officers observed a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed on Wallace Terrace. A traffic stop was conducted and officers noticed open alcohol in the vehicle. A subsequent search of the vehicle was conducted and officers found a loaded 9 mm handgun and a small quantity of what is believed to be cocaine and seven Adderall pills.

All four of the occupants were arrested.

Mr. Armoo is charged with two counts of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, one count of carrying a concealed weapon, one count of careless use of a firearm, one count of unauthorized possession of a firearm, one count of possession of a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized, unauthorized possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle, one count of possession of a restricted firearm with ammunition and one count of possession of a weapon obtained by crime.

Mr. Ramessar is charged with two counts of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, one count of carrying a concealed weapon, one count of careless use of a firearm, one count of unauthorized possession of a firearm, one count of possession of a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized, unauthorized possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle, one count of possession of a restricted firearm with ammunition, one count of possession of a weapon obtained by crime and one count of driving while under suspension.

Mr. Reid is charged with two counts of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, two counts of possession of a firearm contrary to a prohibition order, one count of carrying a concealed weapon, one count of careless use of a firearm, one count of unauthorized possession of a firearm, one count of possession of a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized, unauthorized possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle, one count of possession of a restricted firearm with ammunition, one count of possession of a weapon obtained by crime, two counts of breach of probation and one count of possession of a controlled substance.

Mr. Hippolyte is charged with two counts of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, one count of carrying a concealed weapon, one count of careless use of a firearm, one count of unauthorized possession of a firearm, one count of possession of a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized, one count of unauthorized possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle, one count of possession of a restricted firearm with ammunition, one count of possession of a weapon obtained by crime, one count of possession of a controlled substance and five counts of breach of recognizance.

They were held for bail court.
