Police say masked man had a fake gun

A staff member at a Trunk Road business noticed someone trying to get in around 4 a.m., police say

City police say a would-be robber showed up at a Trunk Road business at 4 a.m. wearing a mask.

The incident happened early this morning. Police say someone who works at the business noticed a male trying to get in and called police. The suspect left the area and police say he was located a short distance away.

Police say the man arrested gave a false name and was found with a fake gun and a knife that opened with centrifugal force. The accused was bound by a recognizance with conditions that he remain in his residence between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. and that he not possess any weapons. 

Jacques Roy, 18, has been charged with:

  • 1 count of attempted robbery,
  • 3 counts of breach of recognizance,
  • 1 count of Obstructing police,
  • 1 count of wearing a disguise with intent to commit an offence,
  • 1 count of carrying an imitation weapon while attempting to commit an offence,
  • 1 count of carrying a concealed weapon, and;
  • 1 count of possession of a prohibited weapon.

He was scheduled to appear in bail court today.
