Police report shotgun brandished during robbery

It is alleged that the accused pointed the firearm at three victims in the residence and demanded cash and other items

On Dec. 5, 2017, officers with the Patrol Services Division of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 28-year-old Justin Ranger of Albert Street West in regards to a robbery.

It is alleged that at 1 a.m., the accused and another male attended the residence of a person known to them in the 100 block of James Street. The accused had his face covered and was allegedly armed with a shotgun. The accused pointed the firearm at three victims in the residence and demanded cash and other items. 

Police were contacted and the suspects fled the scene. Officers located the accused last evening and he was taken into custody. Mr. Ranger has been charged with:

  • One count of unlawfully in a dwelling,
  • One count of wearing a disguise with intent,
  • One count of robbery using a firearm,
  • Three counts of pointing a firearm, and;
  • One count of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

He was held for bail court and the investigation is continuing.
