Police follow suspect, charge him with theft

He's accused of selecting approximately $50 worth of merchandise and leaving the store without paying

On Aug. 27, 2018, officers with the Crime Suppression Unit of The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 42-year-old Chad Guerin of Pilgrim Street for theft.

Just after noon officers observed the accused checking businesses in the area of Second Line East. 

Officers followed the accused into a business in the 500 block of Second Line East and observed him select just under $50 worth of merchandise from the shelf and then leave the store without paying.

Officers stopped the accused a short distance away and he was taken into custody.

He has been charged with one count of theft under $5,000 and one count of possession of stolen property. He was held for bail court.
