The Sault Police Service assisted city by-law enforcement officers in clearing out a residence on Gore Street of three people who were not supposed to be in a vacant apartment.
Members of the local Housing Services division of Sault Ste. Marie Social Services were also there to speak with them and offer support.

On Oct. 20, 2021 around 2 p.m., Community Safety Officers attended a residence in the 100 block of Gore Street at the request of City Bylaw Officers to assist with removing people from a vacant apartment.
Upon arrival, the property manager allowed officers to enter the multi-unit residence to ensure everyone in the building is permitted to be there. Once inside the building, officers located three people inside who were not permitted to be in the building.
Members of the local Housing Services division of Sault Ste. Marie Social Services attended to speak with them and offer support.
On Oct. 19, 2021 around 1 p.m., Community Safety Officers attended a residence at 316 Pim St. at the request of City By-Law Officers to keep the peace while crews cleaned the property.
Crews were able to clean the property without incident.
To date in 2021, Sault Police have been involved in 62 Integrated Municipal Enforcement Team (IMET) related calls.
IMET is a partnership with Sault Police, Sault Fire Services, City of Sault Ste. Marie Building and By-Law, other local enforcement agencies, as well as Housing Services division of the District Social Services Administration Boards. The enforcement-oriented team brings together all agencies with enforcement mandates, with the support of other partner agencies, to develop action plans in order to address a variety of community issues and concerns.
