Pedestrian in hospital with life-threatening injures: police

Police seek witnesses to Albert Street pedestrian collision

Five cruisers and forensics were at Albert Street West and Andrew Street yesterday morning.

Police are asking witnesses to come forward after a pedestrian sustained life-threatening injuries in a collision that occurred yesterday morning.

At approximately 8:30 a.m., a grey SUV turned onto Albert Street West from Andrew Street and struck the pedestrian.

"The driver of the SUV stopped the vehicle and rendered first aid to the pedestrian until Emergency Services arrived," says a news release issued by the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service. "The pedestrian was transported to Sault Area Hospital by EMS with life-threatening injuries."
