One charged under Reopening Act during weekend Bellevue Park rally

Accused will be fined $10,000 if convicted

Police have charged one person under the Reopening Ontario Act following a rally at Bellevue Park this past weekend.

A news release issued today by the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service states that the individual from Springwater Township, Ont. was identified as having organized the gathering.

"A conviction for organizing an illegal gathering will result in a minimum fine of $10,000," the release states.

Investigation into this occurrence continues.
