SAULT STE. MARIE POLICE SERVICE

On Oct. 6, 2017, officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service’s Break and Enter Unit arrested 45-year-old John Pine of Shingwawk Street in relation to a home invasion.
It is alleged that on Sept. 22, 2017, the accused and two other individuals entered a residence in the 400 block of Third Avenue by forcing a door open. The accused had his face covered and was in possession of a firearm at the time.
(It is alleged that) the residents were home and were threatened at gunpoint while several items were stolen from the residence. All three suspects then fled the scene and police were contacted.
Officers were able to identify the accused and he was taken into custody. He has been charged with;
- One count of break and enter,
- One count of robbery with a firearm,
- One count of wearing a disguise with intent to commit a criminal offence,
- One count of pointing a firearm,
- One count of forcible confinement,
- One count of possession of property obtained by crime,
- Two counts of careless storage of a firearm,
- Two counts of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose,
- Two counts of unauthorized possession of a firearm,
- Two counts of possession of a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized,
- Two counts of unauthorized possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle; and,
- Four counts of unauthorized possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to a court order
He was held for bail court. The investigation is continuing.
