Names released in Morin Street murder investigation

The relationship between the victim and the accused is still under investigation

On Feb. 10, 2018 at approximately 4 a.m., officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service responded to a call for service regarding a deceased male on Morin Street.

Initial information led officers to a residence in the 400 block of Morin Street where 30-year-old Joshua McCabe was taken into custody. It is alleged that the accused engaged in an altercation with the victim, 23-year-old Christopher Swanson of Sault Ste. Marie. During the altercation the accused shot the victim and soon after he succumbed to those injuries.

Officers do not believe that this was a random occurrence; however the relationship between the victim and the accused is still under investigation. Mr. McCabe was taken into custody and has been charged with one count of second degree murder.  He will appear in bail court today.
