On February 8th 2002, members of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Investigation Services Fraud Unit and the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service/Ontario Provincial Police Joint Forces Drug Unit executed a search warrant at 1622 Queen St E. in Sault Ste. Marie. Items seized included couterfeit money, equipment used to produce counterfeit money, stolen cheques and a stolen credit card. Officers also located a marijuana cultivation system valued at approximately $10,000 and marijuana plants with an estimated street value of $17,000.

Charged with 72 couts of uttering counterfeit money, 5 counts of theft under $5,000, possession of counterfeit money, cultivation of marijuana and possession of marijuana was William Joseph Ayotte aka William Joseph Dehamel age 32 of 1622 Queen St. E Sault Ste. Marie.
