TRAFFIC OFFICERS KEPT BUSY ON WEEKEND On Saturday morning at 12:30, city police were called to a single vehicle accident at the corner of Douglas and Goulais Avenue. A vehicle had lost control and struck a fire hydrant.

On Saturday morning at 12:30, city police were called to a single vehicle accident at the corner of Douglas and Goulais Avenue. A vehicle had lost control and struck a fire hydrant. Officers arrested the 22-year-old driver, Rheal Edward Cage of Abbot Street, and charged him with impaired driving. The Mercury he was driving was severely damaged. He will appear in court on Jan 14.

Also on Saturday morning at 2:50, officers were called to the intersection of Korah Road and Raymond Street. A 1977 blue Ford Pick-up operated by Barry Beharriell of North Street was northbound on Korah Road when it struck a pedestrian walking on the right shoulder of the road. The 52-year-old pedestrian, Judy Nanchin, was taken to hospital by ambulance for treatment of her injuries. The driver of the vehicle has been charged with operating a vehicle with over 80 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood.
