Police and firefighters were called to a collision on Trunk Road at approximately 11 a.m. on Jan. 23, 2022.

At approximately 11 a.m. on Sunday morning, the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service responded to a multi-vehicle collision in the area of Trunk Road and Dacey Road.

In an email to SooToday, police spokesperson Lincoln Louttit explained that "a white SUV driven by a 31-year-old man was travelling north on Dacey Road and attempted to make a lefthand turn onto Trunk Road."

The white SUV struck a black truck that was travelling eastbound on Trunk Road. Occupants of the truck included a 33-year-old male driver and a four-year-old passenger.

"The collision caused the truck to slide into the westbound lane of Trunk Road, striking a grey SUV driven by a 71-year-old woman," Louttit said.

"The driver of the white SUV, and the driver and passenger of the black truck were taken to hospital with minor injuries."

The driver of the white SUV stands charged with failing to yield the right of way to traffic under the Highway Traffic Act as a result of this incident.
