Man faces sexual assault, forcible confinement charges after June 2020 incident

Police say the accused would not let the complainant leave their residence

A 27-year-old is facing charges after a sexual assault investigation, Sault Ste. Marie Police say.

In a news release issued this morning, police report that officers began an investigation into an alleged sexual assault on April 19, 2021.

Police say they determined that on June 19, 2020, the accused sexually assaulted the complainant and wouldn't let them leave his residence.

Jagjit Singh was arrested yesterday and charged with sexual assault and forcible confinement.

He is scheduled to appear in court on June 21, 2021.
