Man charged with kidnapping faces assault charges in unrelated incident

On April 16, 2019, 43-year-old John Dave Jamieson was arrested and charged with numerous offences in a firearms investigation stemming from a March 2 Albert Street West incident. Charges related to this incident include robbery with a firearm, kidnapping with a firearm, and assault with a weapon.

Also on April 16 in an unrelated incident, Mr. Jamieson was charged with one count of aggravated assault, one count of dangerous driving causing bodily harm, one count of fail to stop at scene of an accident, one count of motor vehicle theft and one count of drive while suspended.

It is alleged that on April 13, 2019, the accused met a person known to him in a Second Line West parking lot. Police say Mr. Jamieson proceeded to hit the victim with the victim’s vehicle. The victim was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries and the accused fled the scene on foot.

Mr. Jamieson was apprehended on April 16 and held for bail court.
