Man accused of using bear spray in Gore Street robbery

He is also accused of brandishing a knife in an earlier incident

On Sept. 12, 2017 officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police’s Break and Enter Unit arrested 27-year-old Colin Wallace of John Street in relation to 2 armed robberies. 

It is alleged that on Sept. 6, 2017 the accused attended a business in the 200-block of Korah Road armed with a knife.  The accused [is alleged to have] pointed the knife at the staff member and demanded cash. He [is alleged to have] fled the scene with an amount of cash and cigarettes.

Later, on Sept. 11, the accused allegedly attended a business in the 100-block of Gore Street where he [is alleged to have] produced a knife and again demanded cash.  The accused [is alleged to have taken] an amount of cash and then sprayed bear spray around the store before fleeing the scene.

The accused was located by police on Sept. 12, and was arrested. He has been charged with:

  • 2 counts of robbery,
  • 2 counts of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and;
  • One count of administering a noxious substance

He was taken into custody and held for bail court.
