Man accused of stealing e-bikes found with crystal meth, police say

The incidents of theft date back to May and August of this year; the accused was located on Oct. 2

On Oct. 2, 2019 officers with the Patrol Services and Drug Enforcement Units of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 33-year-old Eric Richer of Grosvenor Avenue. 

On May 16, 2019 police received a complaint of a stolen e-bike. Officers located parts of the e-bike at the residence of the accused. He was not located at that time. 

It’s further alleged on Aug. 9, 2019 the accused attended in the area of the 200 block of Bay Street. At this time he attempted to steal an e-bike. Later, he approached another e-bike and fled the area driving the vehicle. 

The accused was located on Oct. 2, 2019 and arrested. During a search of the accused he was found to be in possession of crystal methamphetamine.

He is charged with two counts of theft of a motor vehicle, one count of attempted theft of a motor vehicle, one count of possession of a controlled substance, one count of possession of stolen property, two counts of mischief under $5,000, one count of fail to appear and five counts of breach of recognizance.

He was held for bail court.
