Man accused of spitting on, threatening security personnel

Bay Street disturbance call leads to assault charge

A disturbance at a Bay Street business on Monday evening has resulted in the arrest of one person.

The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service says in a news release that the accused threatened and spat on security personnel as they attempted to detain him.

Once officers arrived, 35-year-old Thomas Marttinen was arrested and stands charged with:
    •    Assault
    •    Uttering threats
    •    Fail to comply with undertaking

Marttinen held in custody pending a bail hearing.
