Man accused of holding a knife to his ex-girlfriend

On June 19, 2018 officers with the Patrol Services Division of The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested a 23-year-old male as a result of a domestic violence investigation.

It is alleged that at approximately 2:40 a.m. the accused attended the residence of his ex-girlfriend. At the time, the accused was bound by a recognizance with conditions stating that he was not to communicate with her or attend at her residence.

The accused engaged in a verbal argument with the victim. The argument escalated and the accused assaulted the victim and then held a knife to her threatening to kill her. Officers quickly attended and the accused was taken into custody.

He has been charged with;

  • 2 counts of breach of recognizance,
  • 3 counts of breach of undertaking,
  • One count of assault,
  • 2 counts of assault with a weapon, and;
  • One count of uttering threats

He was held for bail court.
