Male charged with theft and dangerous driving

As suspect fled police, the vehicle doors were open and almost struck multiple people in parking lot

On May 18, 2017 officers with the Patrol Services Division of the Sault Ste Marie Police Service arrested 31-year-old, Aaron Goodmurphy of Second Line West, in relation to a theft.

It is alleged that on Apr. 27, 2017, the accused attended a grocery store located on Great Northern Road in Sault Ste. Marie. The accused selected just over $130 worth of merchandise and then left the store without paying for the items.

Store security approached the accused in the parking lot and the accused failed to stop for them. The accused entered a vehicle and reversed out of a parking spot at a high rate of speed. The vehicle doors were open and the vehicle almost struck multiple people in the parking lot.

On May 18, 2017 the accused attended the police station and was arrested in relation to this occurrence. 

He has been charged with one count of theft under $5,000 and one count of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle. He will appear in court on June 26, 2017.
