A heavy police presence in the area of Edinburgh Street near Wellington Street West Monday afternoon has closed portions of both streets to traffic.
Westbound traffic on Wellington is currently being diverted onto North Street.
Roughly a dozen Sault Ste. Marie Police Service vehicles were seen in the 0-100 block of Edinburgh Street, including the Ballistic Armoured Tactical Transport (BATT) vehicle.
The public is being urged by police to avoid the area while it conducts an investigation.
