Goulais River man faces child pornography charges

In December 2016, members of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Services Technological Crimes Unit initiated an investigation into the distribution of child pornography on the internet.

On several occasions between December 2016 and August 2017, a suspect computer was identified as making child abuse images available to others on the internet.

In September 2017, a search warrant was executed at a downtown Sault Ste. Marie address and a number of electronic devices seized including two computers and a portable hard drive.

As a result of the investigation, on Thursday, Oct. 19, 2017, investigators arrested 30-year-old Ryan Joseph Lewis of Goulais River, Ont. He has been charged with:

  • Two counts of possession of child pornography; and,
  • Two counts of make available child pornography

He will appear in court on Nov. 6, 2017.
