Sault Police have accused a 24-year-old Goulais River man of illegal gun possession.

Officers say they located the accused sitting in a vehicle, learned he was wanted on outstanding warrants, and arrested him.

A press release issued today by Sault Police states that upon a subsequent search of the trunk of the vehicle, officers located a sawed off shotgun.

As a result, Jacob Boyer has been charged with two counts of breach of recognizance, unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm, unauthorized possession of a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized, occupant of a motor vehicle knowing there is a prohibited weapon in the vehicle and breach of firearm regulations.

He was held for bail court.
