BLUE ENVELOPES A HOAX
City police have been inundated with calls today regarding blue envelopes from the Klingerman Foundation. An e-mail forwarded from a Brock University e-mail address to people in our area indicates the envelopes may contain a sponge-like substance that may cause individuals harm. The Sault Police Service has not been able to confirm the existence of such envelopes or of any persons becoming ill. All indications are that these e-mails are a hoax and have no substance. A check with the originator of the e-mail also indicates that they may have been sent unknowingly by way of a computer virus. Police suggest that as a result of recent world events, unknown persons may be trying to raise the fear of citizens for their own causes and may be using this type of tactic to do so.
