CAR-PEDESTRIAN ACCIDENT It was a quiet night around the city last night but yesterday morning at 8:56 police were called to the 700 block of Pine Street to investigate a car/pedestrian collision.

It was a quiet night around the city last night but yesterday morning at 8:56 police were called to the 700 block of Pine Street to investigate a car/pedestrian collision. A southbound 1988 GMC pick-up, operated by 24-year-old Steven McEwen of Plaintree Drive struck 11-year-old Eric Deplonty of Pine Street who ran out in front of the vehicle. Deplonty was taken to hospital by ambulance for treatment of minor injuries. The truck received light damage. No charges were laid.

BEAR & CUB SPOTTED
Police received a sighting of a mother bear and cub on Shultz Road in the north end of the city last evening at approximately 6:40. Bears with cubs can be extremely unpredictable and dangerous. You are advised to stay away should you see bears and call the police immediately.
