Male arrested for domestic violence

On Jan. 5, 2017 officers with the Patrol Services Division of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested a 61-year-old male for a domestic violence incident.

It is alleged that on the night of Jan. 5 the accused engaged in an argument with his girlfriend. The accused then struck the victim across the face with the back of his hand and pushed her against a door.

The accused was arrested by officers and charged with one count of assault. He will appear in bail court today.

Male arrested for domestic violence

On the 5th of January 2017 officers with the Patrol Services Division of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested a 38-year-old male for a domestic violence incident.

It is alleged that on the 5th of January the accused engaged in a verbal altercation with his wife. The victim did not want to stay, and on three occasions tried to leave. Each time she tried to leave the accused grabbed her by the hair and pulled her to the ground. The accused then stomped on the victim while she was on the ground.

The victim was able to get away and police were contacted. The accused was arrested and charged with one count of forcible confinement and one count of assault. He will appear in bail court today.

Male arrested for domestic violence

On Jan. 5, 2017 officers with the Patrol Services Division of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested a 25-year-old male for domestic violence offences.

It is alleged that on Dec. 28, 2016 the accused engaged in a verbal altercation with his girlfriend. That altercation escalated and the accused choked the victim. Also, on Jan. 2, 2017 the accused (allegedly) engaged in a verbal argument with the victim. The victim was kneeling on the floor next to a portable stove and the accused pushed her from behind causing a burn to her thigh.

The accused was arrested by officers and charged with two counts of assault. He will appear in bail court today.

Male charged with driving while disqualified

On the 5th of January 2017 officers with the Traffic Services Division of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service charged 61-year-old Roger Taylor of Ferguson Avenue for driving while disqualified.

It is alleged that on Jan. 5, 2017 the accused was operating a motor vehicle on Wellington Street East. An officer conducted a traffic stop with regards to a Highway Traffic Act violation and later determined that the accused had a disqualified licence under the Criminal Code.

The accused was charged with one count of driving while disqualified and will appear in court on Feb. 6, 2017.
