Early this morning at 2:47, patrol officers spotted a 1994 green Dodge Caravan parked and running behind some businesses in the downtown area. When officers attempted to check the vehicle, the driver and one passenger attempted to get away.

A short pursuit through the downtown area ended when the suspect vehicle left the road, went up on the sidewalk, struck a parking meter, and came to rest against the east wall of #15 Queen Street East. Both occupants were apprehended after a short foot pursuit.

The 17-year-old male driver has been charged with theft over $5,000, possession of stolen property, dangerous driving, and failing to stop for police. The 17-year-old passenger has been charged with theft over, possession, and taking a vehicle without the owner's consent. Damage to the vehicle was light. The investigation continues.
