Fraudsters calling about Teddy Bear Program not legit, police say

If you get a call from someone requesting support for a 'Teddy Bear Program' sponsored by police, ignore it.

Sault Police are warning that there have been fraudulent phone calls requesting money from victims on at least three separate occasions. Police say they are not currently operating a Teddy Bear Program, and at no time will Sault Police contact people over the phone to request money.

If you have any concerns about a potential scam or fraudulent activity, please contact police by calling 705-949-6300.

Police also remind residents not to share personal information with anyone you do not know over the phone.
