On July 14, 2019, officers with the Patrol Services Unit of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 48-year-old Andrew Heipel of Meadow Park Crescent for impaired driving.
Near midnight on July 13, 2019, police observed the accused operating a vehicle and having trouble maneuvering curves in the roadway. Officers conducted a traffic stop and detected a strong smell of alcohol coming from the accused.
He refused to provide a breath sample to officers and was taken into custody. He is charged with one count of impaired operation and one count of impaired operation – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus). He is scheduled to appear in court on Aug. 19, 2019.
