A driver was removed from an overturned vehicle and sent to hospital following a collision in the Sault's west end Wednesday morning.

Sault Ste. Marie Police Service responded to a report of a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Third Avenue and Connaught Avenue at approximately 7:53 a.m.

Officers observed an orange SUV and a grey sedan which had been involved in a collision. The orange SUV had flipped over and a man was still in the driver’s seat.

The driver of the SUV was extricated from the vehicle by Sault Ste. Marie Fire Services and transported to hospital by EMS.

Both the driver of the sedan and passenger in the SUV received medical attention but were not transported to hospital.

An investigation by police determined the driver of the SUV ran a stop sign while travelling northbound on Third Avenue, resulting in a collision with the sedan, which was traveling eastbound on Connaught Avenue.

An 18-year-old man has been charged by police with failing to stop for a stop sign.
