Driver charged with impaired after attempting to avoid RIDE check: Police

On July 26, 2019, officers with the Patrol Services Unit of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 26-year-old Justin Poulin of Connaught Avenue for impaired driving.

In the late evening hours of July 26, 2019, the accused was observed attempting to avoid a RIDE program on Wellington Street West. Officers conducted a traffic stop and at that time the accused acknowledged his attempt to avoid the RIDE program.

He provided samples into an approved instrument and registered two readings over the legal limit. He is charged with one count of impaired driving and one count of impaired operation - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus).

He is scheduled to appear in court on Sept. 9, 2019.
