Driver accused of assaulting police during arrest for impaired driving

On May 22, 2020, officers arrested 23-year-old Alexander Brownlee for impaired driving.

At 12:23 a.m., police received a call regarding a truck striking a tree on Dablon Street and fleeing the scene. A short time later, officers located the truck in the 100 block of Willow Avenue.

The accused was standing next to the driver’s side of the truck. Officers noticed the truck had damage to the front end. Upon speaking with the accused, officers could smell alcohol on the accused. He was detained for failing to stop after an accident, at which time the accused struck the officer in the head.

He was arrested and later provided two breath samples into an approved device, registering two fail results. He is charged with impaired driving, impaired operation blood alcohol concentration (80 plus) and assaulting a peace officer.

He is scheduled to appear in court on June 29, 2020.
