Domestic dispute leads to assault charges in Wawa

The accused is scheduled to appear in court next month

A domestic dispute that occurred on Jan. 8 in Wawa has resulted in multiple charges for a 27-year-old resident, a news release issued by the Ontario Provincial Police stated.

Full text of the release follows:

On Jan. 8, 2022, at approximately 1:32 p.m., members of the Superior East Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were notified of a domestic dispute on Winston Road in Wawa.

On Jan. 10, 2022, police located and arrested the suspect. As a result, a 27-year-old person, from Wawa, was charged with the following:

  • Assault - spousal, contrary to section 266 of the Criminal Code (CC),
  • Fail to comply with probation order, contrary to section 733.1(1) of the CC, and
  • Failure to comply with undertaking, contrary to section 145(4)(a) of the CC (Nine Counts).

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in February in Wawa.
