Chartwell Drive man faces slew of charges after a robbery

Accused is said to have assaulted and threatened one woman before locking her and another in a bedroom

On Aug. 27, 2018 officers with the Patrol Services Division of The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 22-year-old Mathew L’Heureux of Chartwell Drive for robbery.

It is alleged that On Aug. 26, the accused engaged in an argument with a person known to him. The accused assaulted the victim by choking her and while doing so threatened to kill her while holding a knife. 

The accused used the knife to threaten a second female that was in the residence at the time and also locked both victims in a bedroom. The accused then took various items belonging to the victim and left the scene.

Officers located the accused on Aug. 27, 2018 and he was taken into custody. He has been charged with;

  • One count of robbery,
  • One count of choking,
  • Two counts of assault,
  • Two counts of forcible confinement, and;
  • One count of assault with a weapon.

He was held for bail court.
