A local man is facing impaired driving charges after a vehicle ended up in a front yard in the city's east end. 

At approximately 12:10 a.m. on Jan. 1, Sault Ste. Marie Police Service responded to a single vehicle collision in the 200 block of Dacey Road.

The vehicle was headed northbound on Dacey Road when it left the roadway and struck trees that were located in the front yard of a residence.

It was determined by police that the driver's ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by alcohol, and was taken into custody.

Forty-two-year-old Carey Angeconeb of Sault Ste. Marie has charged with one count of impaired operation of a motor vehicle and one count of operating a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol level that was over the legal limit. 

He is scheduled to appear in court Jan. 28, 2019.
