Black Road collision sends two to hospital (7 photos, updated)

Sault Ste. Marie Police Services has released the following information:

Officers with the Traffic Services Division of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service responded to a Motor Vehicle Collision in the 400 block of Black Road just before noon today.

A Nissan pick-up truck was travelling Northbound on Black Road while a white Toyota car was travelling Southbound.  It was determined that the driver of the Toyota crossed the centre line and collided with the Northbound pick-up truck.

Both drivers were transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.  The driver of the Toyota, a 17 year old male from Sault Ste. Marie, was issued an offence notice under section 154 (1) (a) of the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario for unsafe move-lane or shoulder.

A two-vehicle collision earlier today resulted in Black Road being closed to traffic between McNabb St. and Second Line East.

Police told SooToday that a southbound white sedan struck a northbound pick up truck. Both male drivers were transported to Sault Area Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Both vehicles suffered extensive damage.

The collision remains under investigation.

The southbound lane of Black Rd. has since reopened to traffic. The northbound lane is expected to open shortly.
