Arrests made after resident finds intruders in home

Police were called to Albert Street East on Saturday afternoon after a resident returned to their home and found two people inside.

Officers located and arrested 53-year-old Charles Shaw and 29-year-old Desni Syrette. They're both charged with "unlawfully in a dwelling house."

Full text of a news release from the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service follows:

On Oct. 1, 2022, officers with Patrol Services charged 53-year-old Charles Shaw and 29-year-old Desni Syrette with unlawfully in a dwelling house.

Around 1 p.m., a person attended their residence in the 300 block of Albert Street East and found two people inside. Officers were called and upon arrival, officers located two people, later identified as the two accused inside the residence. They were arrested and charged.

Charles Shaw is charged with:
    •    Unlawfully in a Dwelling House
    •    Breach of Probation – Failing to Keep the Peace and be of Good Behaviour

Desni Syrette is charged with:
    •    Unlawfully in a Dwelling House

The two accused were released on an undertaking and are both scheduled to appear in court on Dec. 19, 2022.
