Arrest made in James Street arson

On April 23, 2019, officers with the Investigation Services unit of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 25-year-old Jade Nahwegahbow of August Street for arson. 

It’s alleged in the early morning hours of April 21, 2019, the accused lit two fires in the lobby area of 100 James Street causing approximately $60,000 in damages. There were no injuries as a result of the fires, and Sault Fire Services quickly extinguished them. It’s further alleged the accused left the area and damaged windows of a business in the 0-100 block of Bay Street with a rock.

After an investigation, which included assistance from the public, the accused was taken into custody. He is charged with one count of arson and one count of mischief.

He’s scheduled to appear in court on May 27, 2019.
