Arrest made in hammer assault investigation

Sault Ste. Marie Police Service has arrested Brendan Gignac in connection to an assault in which two men were allegedly threatened and swung at with a hammer. 

The incident in question happened on Sept, 20 at roughly 12:30 p.m., when the two men were accosted in 100 block of East Street, states a news release issued today.

Gignac was arrested on Sept, 27, and charged with assault with a weapon and uttering threats.

He was held for a bail hearing and later released, and is scheduled to appear in court on Nov. 1.
