Arrest made after stolen truck gets stuck in snow

38-year-old accused faces a number of theft-related charges

A news release issued by the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service states that Jordan Forbes was arrested early this morning after he was found in possession of suspected methamphetamine and stolen property, including a credit card and pickup truck.

The truck in question was reported stolen from an Old Garden River Road residence on Monday afternoon.

The 38-year-old was held in custody and faces a number of theft-related charges.

Full text of the news release follows:

On Jan. 25, 2022, officers with Patrol Services charged 38-year-old Jordan Forbes with theft of a motor vehicle.

Around 3 p.m. on Jan. 24, 2022, officers responded to reports of a break and enter of a residence in the 400 block of Old Garden River Road. Upon arrival, officers discovered several items had been stolen, including a pickup truck, bank cards and jewellery.

Around 1 a.m. on Jan. 25, 2022, officers observed a pickup truck, matching the description of the one reported stolen from Old Garden River Road, stuck in snow on Northland Road. A man was next to the truck and was identified as the accused. Further investigation determined it was the truck reported stolen and the accused was arrested.

A subsequent search found the accused to be in possession of a bank card and jewellery reported stolen from Old Garden River Road and a small quantity of suspected methamphetamine.

The accused is charged with:
    •    theft of a motor vehicle
    •    possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000
    •    break and enter
    •    possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000
    •    theft of a credit card
    •    unauthorized possession of a credit card
    •    possession of a controlled substance
    •    breach of probation – failing to keep the peace and be of good behaviour

He was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
