A local man faces theft charges after an incident that took place earlier this month.

In a news release issued today, Sault Ste. Marie Police say they responded to a call on April 13 of the theft of two catalytic converters and damage to vehicles at a business in the 100 block of Northern Avenue. Police say a security camera was also damaged. The estimated damage to each vehicle is $3,000.

Police began an investigation, and the accused was identified as the suspect.

He was located yesterday, and as a result, Jason Pine, 32, was arrested and charged with two counts of theft under $5,000, three counts of mischief under $5,000 and breach of recognizance.

He was held for bail court.
