Alleged theft from donation box leads to charges

On May 22, 2019 officers with the Break and Enter unit of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 26-year-old Jeff Humphries of Trunk Road for theft.

It’s alleged one time in February 2019 and another in April 2019 the accused attended a gathering place in the 100-block of MacDonald Avenue and attempted to steal money from a donation box.

On one occasion it is alleged he stole approximately $60, the other he was unsuccessful getting into the donation box. However, approximately $670 worth of damage was caused to the donation box during the incidents. 

Police located the accused on May 21, 2019 and he is charged with two counts of theft under $5,000, two counts of mischief under $5,000 and two counts of breach of probation. He is scheduled to appear in court on June 24, 2019.
