19-year-old accused of stealing from Great Northern Road business, possessing crystal meth

On Oct. 1, 2019 officers with the Patrol Services Unit of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 19-year-old Joanne Agawa of Cambridge Place for theft under $5,000.

On Oct. 1, 2019 the accused attended a business in the 0-100 block of Great Northern Road. While there it is alleged she selected approximately $400 worth of items and placed them in a bag. She then proceeded to the cash, and paid for items that were located in her cart, but did not attempt to pay for the items in her bag. 

She was stopped by store security and held for police. Officers arrived and conducted a search of the accused. In addition to the items the accused didn't attempt to pay for, she was found to be in possession of crystal methamphetamine.

She is charged with one count of theft under $5,000, one count of possession of a controlled substance and five counts of breach of recognizance. She was held for bail court.
