VIDEO: Hockey parents say new outdoor rink helped keep winter fun alive

'Hockey is part of our culture," says Tony Porco

With restrictions in place, hockey teams have only been able to gather in limited numbers, especially at indoor locations. But hockey lovers say the Century 21 Rink, being an outdoor space, has allowed groups to book time and enjoy some traditional winter recreation.

"It's been great for the community of all ages" says Amy Tolin, mother of a young hockey player who has spent time on the ice surface, which is located in the Canal District on the former St. Marys Paper site.

"Hockey is a part of our culture here" says Tony Porco, owner of the Machine Shop and Canal District. "Making it exist and last is something I want to be a part of."
