Going for a skate on Douglas Street

Drone captures unique outing on icy street

Only in Canada, eh?

Sunday night we experienced our first real taste of winter and Chris Marshall saw an opportunity to have some fun while showing off his professional skills.

Marshall laced up his skates and glided his way down Douglas Street.

You can see it all because Marshall, who owns and operates Chris Marshall Visuals, used his drone to shoot a video of the outing.

“It was a perfect opportunity. There was about an inch of ice on the road,” he said.

Marshall said he wasn’t making a statement about road conditions.

“I just wanted to get out and have some fun and jump on before the city got out,” he said.

He’s had plenty of reaction to the post.

“My phone’s been blowing up. People are sharing their experiences of doing the same thing,” he said.

Marshall has over six years of drone and camera experience. He says the Sault has been very receptive to his business. He’s done everything from music videos to roof inspections and other projects for clients.

Shooting himself with his drone while skating gives people an opportunity to see what the technology can do.

Marshall looks forward to doing other fun outings, maybe on ponds like his skate last year on Gros Cap.
